Improving the chances of piglet survival

With the aim of improving pigs’ chances of survival, the focus of the article was on going back to basics and considering the pig’s biology. Increasing litter size numbers has a correlation with increased pre-weaning mortality, as pigs are historically being born smaller and lighter. By optimising piglet welfare and survival until weaning, we can implement different practices to help reduce this mortality rate.
