EuroTier 2021 will be a vastly different platform this year due to the Coronavirus pandemic. Organisers for the industry’s largest tradeshow, DLG, have decided to go for a digital event this time, for the safety of both exhibitors and attendees.

Animal health and nutrition company, Tonisity, will be taking part in this year’s event. Tonisity develop supplementary nutritional products that create physiological changes in the gut of young animals. These products are designed to improve gut health performance of pigs from day two, right through to finish, leading to positive returns for farmers.

As part of Tonisity’s participation in EuroTier, they have developed a unique speaker programme to coincide with the event. The programme will be delivered in a series of webinars from leading swine experts discussing key areas in the physiology of piglets.

On Tuesday 9th February, Dr. Laura Boyle and Dr. Keelin O’Driscoll from Teagasc, Ireland’s Agriculture and Food Development Authority, will present their research findings on “Working with pig biology and behaviour improves welfare and could help to reduce pre-weaning mortality.”

On Wednesday 10th February, Professor Richard Ducatelle, Head of the Laboratory of Veterinary Pathology from the University of Ghent in Belgium, will have a speaker session discussing gut health, in particular “Small intestinal absorption vs small intestinal infection.” Later that day, Dr. Alfons Jansman, Senior Scientist Animal Nutrition from the Wageningen Livestock Research in the Netherlands, will talk about “Nutrition and intestinal development in young piglets.”

On Thursday 11th February, Tonisity’s Managing Director, Mathieu Cortyl, will be presenting on the official EuroTier speaker programme and covering the topic of “Early intervention solutions for improved life performance of pigs.” Finally, Dr. Ava Firth, R&D Director of Tonisity, and Dr. Stefan Buzoianu, R&D Project Manager, will present some research findings on pre-weaning mortality across different birthweights and explain how “Data Defies Dogma – Heavy Piglets Die Too!
